Romine - Mrs. Mary M. Romine, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Block, west of Winfield, Sunday afternoon at half past three o'clock. Mrs. Romine had been in failing health for several years and her death while sudden, was not unexpected. Mrs. Romine was a pioneer resident of Cowley county and well known in the vicinity of Kellogg where she and Mr. Romine and their estimable family located in 1877.

Mary M. McClure was born in Marietta, Ohio, April 19, 1834 and was 84 years and 9 months old the day of her death. Her family moved to Illinois and in that state she was united in marriage to Mr. Romine. They came to Cowley county, Kansas in 1877 from Irving, Ill., and resided on a farm in Vernon township until Mr. Romine retired from active work and they moved to Winfield, living on College Hill. Since the death of Mr. Romine in 1909 Mrs. Romine has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Block. Early in life Mrs. Romine joined the Presbyterian church and after her marriage became affiliated with the Methodist Episcopal faith, remaining true until death. After removing to Winfield she changed her membership to Grace Methodist church.
