Son of Wm D McClure. First marriage to Jane Varner in 1853. Second marriage to Mary L Arnold in 1895. One child born to Ben and Mary, Asa, died in 1897. Benjamin was in the Civil War Co G 40th Ill Infantry. Enlisted 8 - 1861 for 3 years. Honorably discharged by reason of a wound near the close of his term of enlistment. He was a carpenter, and a Justice of the Peace. Also was a former proprietor of the Irving Hotel built by his father William D. McClure in the middle 1800's. Unable to locate a headstone or an exact date of death. He is listed in the 1910 US census as living with his sister Julia Harkey.
