On Monday last, March 4, 1901, at 1:20 a.m., Mrs. Phoebe Skidmore, wife of Josiah Skidmore of Summit Grove, this county, died of grip and asthma, after a brief illness. The deceased was a daughter of Enoch and Lydia White, deceased, who were residents of Helt's Prairie. Miss Phoebe White was united in wedlock to Josiah Skidmore about 45 years ago, and always lived pleasantly and happily with her husband. No children were born to them. A husband and adopted daughter survive her. The deceased was 65 years old last October. She had been afflicted with asthma for many years, which greatly lessened her resistive strength against an attack of the the grip. She was kind and generous hearted and a true Christian lady, with everyone her friend. The writer has known her since boyhood, and for many years resided a near neighbor. She was pure in heart and a noble woman, and many will deeply mourn her passing away. The funeral was held from her late residence at 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon, after which her remains were interred in the Helt's Prairie Cemetery. Rev. H.H. Dunlavy, the M.E. Pastor of Dana, was the officiating minister.
