Ella Mae Smith McPherson, 84, died Monday, July 24, 2006 at her residence. Born in Hatteras, NC, she was the daughter of the late James B. and Louisa Austin Smith and was the widow of Charles Thomas McPherson. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Manteo. Mrs. McPherson is survived by three sons, Charles T. McPherson, Jr. and Willie J. McPherson both of Manteo, NC and Danny Ray McPherson of Kill Devil Hills, NC; a sister, Lila Willis of Chesapeake, VA; two step brothers, Lauris Peele of Wanchese, NC and William Peele of Elizabeth City, NC; two grandchildren and two great grandsons. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, July 27, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Twiford's Colony Chapel by the Rev. Roger Barnett and the Rev. Steve Crews. Burial will be in Cudworth Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7:00 to 8:30 PM and at other times at the residence.
