Mrs. Matilda Ann Gibbs, 55, of Wanchese, died Monday afternoon, May 12, 1975, in the Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City as a result of injuries in a car accident.
She was a native of Hatteras and the wife of Roy Gilbert Gibbs of Wanchese. She was the daughter of the late Blaine and Louisa Austin Smith. She attended the Manteo Assembly of God Church.
In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons, Gilbert Bruce Gibbs and Darrel Keith Gibbs of Wanchese; three daughters: Mrs. Donna G. Thomas and Mrs. Betty Lou Reber of Manteo, and Mrs. Sherelene Johnson of Conway, SC; four sisters: Mrs. Louvenia Willis and Mrs. Ella Mae McPherson of Manteo, Mrs. Lila Willis of Chesapeake, VA and Mrs. Byrna Abbott of Wanchese; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday in the Bethany United Methodist Church, Wanchese by the Rev. Roy Burgess, pastor and the Rev. Carol Daniels. Burial will follow in the Cudworth Cemetery, Wanchese.
