Mrs. Louise Day Peele, 61, died at 10:45 p.m. July 15 [1960] at the Albemarle Hospital after an illness of 3 weeks. She was a native of Hatteras but had been living in Wanchese for the past 3 years.

She was the daughter of the late James and Sally Bailey Austin and wife of William Woodard Peele.

Besides her husband she is survived by five daughters: Mrs. Lavenia Willis and Mrs. Myrna Abbott of Wanchese, Mrs. Matilda Gibbs of Norfolk, Mrs. Ella McPherson of Camden, and Mrs. Lila Willis of Texas; a step-daughter, Mrs. Eileen Etheridge of Wanchese; two step-sons: Lauris Peele of Wanchese and William E. Peele of Norfolk; a brother, James Austin of Hatteras; and 21 grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon in the Assembly of God Church at Wanchese by Rev. Carroll Daniels, pastor, assisted by Rev. Charles Etheridge, pastor of the Assembly of God Church in Manteo. Burial was in the Cudworth Cemetery. "Some Golden Day Break" was sung by the church choir. A solo, "God Is Always There" was sung by Mrs. Elmo Daniels and Mrs. Roscoe Gallop accompanied at the piano.

The casket was covered with a pall made of pink glads, white glads, white carnations and fern. Pallbearers were Willie Daniels, Paul Daniels, Bart Garrison, Corbet Payne, Earl Tillett and Malcolm Daniels.
