1921 RUBEN GRIMBERG 1942

A youthful member of St. John
Lutheran Church was laid to rest on
Tuesday afternoon when the mortal
remains of Ruben Grimberg were accorded
the honor of a Christian
burial.

After a brief service at the home
of the parents, Mr and Mrs
Henry Grimberg, the funeral cortege
wound its way to the church where
divine service was conducted by the
Rev. W. H. Jurgens, pastor of the
deceased and the congregation to
which he belonged. The assembled
congregation sang three
chorales to embellish
the service: "I Know that My Redeemer
Lives!" by Samuel Medley;
"What God Ordains is Always Good",
by Samuel Rodlgast, and "Jerusalem
t h e Golden", by Bernard of Morlas.
The text of the sermon was taken
from Luke 7, 14, on the basis of
which the Pastor showed that this
call of Jesus comes to us today as a
call to regeneration, to consecration,
to eternal life.

The body was laid to rest on the
cemetery of St. John Church. It was
borne by a sextet of young men,
same of them members of the confirmation:
class of the deceased; Sylven
Schuknecht, Wilbert Hibblng,
Francis Pauling, Leonard Pauling,
Melvin Tesch, and William Roehrs,
Jr . The flower girls were Ella Mesner
and Elvera Ebel; the flower arrangement
was in charge of Mrs.
Louis Schuknecht and Mrs. Harold
Puhrmann.

Ruben John Edward Grimberg was
born on September 14, 1921, the son
of Henry Grimberg, and his wife,
Emma, nee Baldwin. Just nine days
later, on September 23rd, he was received
into the Kingdom of Grace
as an heir of eternal salvation in
the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, performed
by the sainted Pastor F. W.
Potratz. On May 2, 1937, he was
confirmed by the former pastor of
St. John, the Rev. H. Steger.

All his earthly life was spent in this
community. He graduated from the
Parish School of St. John Church,
a n d after graduation he assisted his
father in the work of farming.

About the middle of last October he suffered
the first of six heart attacks.
Good medical care was given him;
but at Christmas time he had not
advanced beyond being confined to
his parents' home. With an attack of
pneumonia he grew steadily worse, so
that it was deemed necessary to take
him to a Sioux City hospital last
Saturday, where he was given a blood
transfusion by his brother, Walter.
He fell asleep peacefully shortly be-
fore midnight Saturday, January
31st, having reached the age of 20
years, 4 months, 17 days. He was
preceded in death by a brother and a
sister.

His death is mourned by his
parents; his brother, Walter, and
family; his sister Evelyn, and her
husband. Harry Massmann; beside a
host of other relatives and friends.
