Leroy "Roy" Carter, 84, of Pequot Lakes, MN died Sunday, October 4, 2015 at the St. Cloud VA Hospital in St. Cloud, MN. Funeral Services for Roy will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 at 2:00PM at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa, MN with visitation one hour prior to services at the church
Leroy was born November 20, 1930 to Leroy and Grace (Walden) Carter in Lafayette, Indiana. Leroy lived in various parts of the country with his family as his dad's job moved them around frequently. He primarily called Fargo, North Dakota and the Twin Cities his home base. Leroy was united in marriage to Teresa Butler on December 20, 1974 at the Fort Snelling Chapel. He worked for the Ford Motor Company Twin Cities Assembly Plant for 30 years before retiring in 1982. He and Terri lived in Minneapolis and Eagan prior to moving to the Brainerd Lakes Area. Leroy enjoyed fishing, football, his dogs, painting, woodworking and the Gulf Coast of Alabama.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Teresa; children, Tere, Bruce (Denise) Carter, Brian (Darla) Carter and their mother, Virginia, Felicia, Anthony (Anne Carter); six grandchildren; several great grand children; nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Max and Woody. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Polly Ames.
