WOONSOCKET - Lucien Barrette died on Aug. 27 after a short stay in Largo Fla. He was the husband of the late Blanche (Guillette) and was born November 5, 1920 in Woonsocket. He was the son of the late Thomas and Rose-Anna (Dupras). He lived in Woonsocket all his life. He attended St. Anne School and Mt. St. Charles Academy and graduated in the class of 1938.

He was a World War II Navy Veteran, serving for two and a half years, most of it on the island of Guam in the Pacific as a baker second class.

He was the co-owner and then owner of The Dupras Baking Co. of Woonsocket for twenty-five years. Before retiring in 1983, he worked at the Whitinsville Machine Shop and the Royal Machine Shop of Medway, Mass.

He was a member of the then Winnesuket Country Club for 25 years. He was the co-founder of the then Woonsocket Bakers Association, member of the R.I. Bakers Association, the New England Bakers Association, the Bakers Club of Boston, and the American Society of the Bakery Engineers of Chicago, and was a lifetime member of the St. Joseph Veterans Association.

He is survived by his children Madeleine M. Barrette of Mich., Donald A. (Denise) of Arizona, and Jeannine R. (Jeff) Wootton of Fla. He leaves one sister, Sister Rita Barrette, S.S.A. of Marlboro, Mass., his daughter-in-law Julia Hiller-Barrette of Ga., five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son Lucien J., his brothers Noe and Alphonse Barrette, and his sisters, Robertine Barrette, Marie Barrette, Sister Blanche Barrette, S.S.A., Therese Richards and Alina Barrette.

Funeral will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 9 a.m. from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, Mass., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 1200 Mendon Road, Woonsocket. Interment will follow at Precious Blood Cemetery, Woonsocket, RI. Visiting time from 9-10 a.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Sisters of St. Ann, Marie Esther Health Center, 720 Boston Post Road, Marlboro, Mass., 01752 will be appreciated.
