ALPHONSE "RED" BARRETTE, 87, of 525 Second Ave., a carpenter for the Gilbane Construction Co. for 38 years before retiring in 1976, died yesterday at the Landmark Medical Center-Woonsocket Unit. He was the husband of Bernadette (Letendre) Barrette.

Mr. and Mrs. Barrette celebrated their 63rd-wedding anniversary last September.

Born in St. Didace, Quebec, a son of the late Thomas and Rosanna (Dupras) Barrette, he moved to Woonsocket in 1920.

Mr. Barrette was a member of the Rhode Island Carpenters & Joiners Union, Local 94, the Parx Club and the Fairmount Manor Club.

Besides his wife he leaves three sons, Rene Barrette of Cumberland, Roger and Arthur Barrette, both of Woonsocket; two daughters, Claire Levreault of Woonsocket, and Lucille Ricci of Lincoln; a brother, Lucien Barrette of Woonsocket; four sisters, Robertine and Marie Barrette, both of Woonsocket, Sister Marie Blanche, SSA, and Sister Rita, SSA, both of Marlboro, Mass.; 16 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Louis Church, Rathbun Street. Burial will be in Precious Blood Cemetery.
