MARLBOROUGH Sister Blanche Barrette, a Sister of St. Anne, known in religion as Sister Mary Blanche de Jesus, died at the age of 95 at Marie Esther Health Center. She was in the 66th year of her religious life.

She was the daughter of Thomas and Rose Anna (Dupras) Barrette of Woonsocket, RI. She completed her elementary education in that city and obtained her high school diploma from St. Anne Academy, Marlborough.

In November, 1941, she entered the novitiate of the Sisters of St. Anne in Lachine, Quebec, and was professed in July of 1943. She returned to the States immediately after her vows and began her ministry as a teacher in Cohoes, NY; then on to Easthampton, Ludlow, Newton, Worcester, MA, St. Matthew/N.D. Consolidated in Central Falls, RI. She also filled positions as hostess, superior, bursar in the New England region until 1965. At that time, she assumed various responsibilities either as treasurer, assistant treasurer, or food manager at St. Anne's Residence in Marlborough until she was obliged to resign these positions because of failing health.

She is survived by her sister Sr. Rita Barrette of the Sisters of St. Anne; her brother Lucien Barrette of Woonsocket, RI, and her sisters in community.

She will be waked at St. Anne Convent, 720 Boston Post Road East, Marlborough on Wednesday, May 19 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. with prayer service at 4:30 and from 7 to 8 p.m.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 20 at 10 a.m. the Convent Chapel with burial in Saint Mary Cemetery, Marlborough. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fitzgerald & Collins Funeral Home,
