WOOSTER -- Emmabelle Acker, 89, of Wooster, passed away suddenly Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Wooster Community Hospital. Emmabelle was born March 6, 1922, in Ada to the late Paul and Leah (Klingler) Baker and married Paul Acker. They had celebrated 67 years of marriage before Paul's passing Feb. 9, 2009. She, along with Paul, owned and operated their dairy farm for 48 years. She was a faithful member of Ripley Church of Christ, the Community Homemakers and Garden Club, and Women of the Word. Emmabelle was a volunteer at Wooster Community Hospital and the OARDC. She was a graduate of Canton Business College and had been employed by Green Thumb Floral for 10 years. Surviving are daughters, Janet Kessler of Brighton, Colo., Linda (Mark) Giles of Granville and Elaine (Larry) Brown of Cincinnati; a son, Max (Debbie) Acker of Wooster; grandchildren, Steven and Todd Kessler, Stephanie (Kessler) Whitaker, Carrie (Giles) Scheiderer, Jarrett and Christian Brown, Ara (Acker) Tabor and Rhett and Julie Acker; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Rudy of Mansfield, Marie (Bob) Houghten of Wooster and Marion Sherry of Safety Harbor, Fla.; brothers, Donald (Faye) Baker and Raymond (Margaret) Baker, both of Shreve; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Richard and Robert Baker; a sister, Joan Baker; and a granddaughter, Abigail Acker. Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Ripley Church of Christ, with the Rev. Tom Benter officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the church.
