Biographical Information.
Oscar W. Johnson
Born 29th June 1863. Lindhult, Viby Socken, Narka, Sweden.
To Johan Emmanuel And Stina Cajsa PersdotterJohnson. Who Married. 8th Feb 1854 Örebro, Viby. Sweden.
Oscar Was One Of Ten Siblings.
passed away at the home of his niece, Mrs. Ted Chalgren, Riverside, Calif., July 18, 1934, at the age of 77 years and 10 days.

When he was 18 years old he came to this country And stayed at the home of his sister, Mrs. Peter Erickson at Big Springs, making that his home while working in and around here for a number of years. Then together with his brother, Joseph Johnson, he moved onto a farm near Whiting, Iowa, still farming in partnership after his brother married, making his home with them until 1888, when he bought a farm of his own, east of Alcester. Later because of failing health he retired and moved to Alcester where he lived four years at which time he decided that the sunny California climate would be still better than our rigorous winters here, so he went to California where he resided until his death.
April 12, 1903, he was converted and united with the Big Springs Baptist church, retaining his membership here to the end of his life. He was of a quiet, retiring disposition, making friends and holding them through life. On account of the nature of his illness he kept to his home a good deal lately, especially enjoying gospel services, keeping his faith in God. He never married. He leaves to mourn his departure one brother, Joseph Johnson of Riverside, Calif.; seven sisters, Mrs. Mary Johnson, Mrs. Gust Carlson, Miss Hildur Johnson and Mrs. A. V. Peterson of Alcester; Miss Sophia Johnson of Sioux City; Mrs. Arnold Ericson of Isanti, Minn., and Mrs. Chas. Carlson of Clark, S. D., besides many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. His parents, a brother, Carl, and one sister, Mrs. Peter Erickson, preceded him in death.
His remains were brought back to Big Springs and funeral services were held at the Big Springs Baptist church last Friday with Rev. B. L. Carlton of Worthington, Minn., in charge. Burial was made in the Big Springs cemetery
