Mrs. Leona E. Newman, 77, a resident of North Ridge Care Center, Manitowoc, died Saturday evening, Nov. 23, at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Tuesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and 11 am at Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Leo J. Schmitt will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial and burial will be in St. Anne Cemetery, Francis Creek.
Mrs. Newman, nee Leona Emma Herrmann, was born July 22, 1908 in Manitowoc County, Wis., daughter of the late Lewis and Clara Ellerman Herrmann. She was married to Wilbur Newman, Nov. 24, 1926 at ST. Anne Catholic church, Francis Creek. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1976. Her husband preceded her in death Nov. 24, 1976. Mrs. Newman was a member of Christian Women of Holy Innocents Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Lucille Newman of Sheboygan Falls, Michael and Karen Newman of Clarion, Iowa; two daughters and a son-in-law, Bernice and roman Schneider of Osman and Arlette Goessl of Manitowoc; two brothers, Fred Herrmann Sr. of Branch and Ervin Herrmann of Manitowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Degeneffe of Arizona and Mrs. Gerald (Violet) Panosh of Manitowoc; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Carol Schneider, a brother, Paul and a sister, Martha.
Friends may call at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 4 pm to 9 pm this Monday, where a prayer service will be 7:30 pm by Deacon Don Gigure, The Christian Women of Holy Innocents Catholic Church, relatives and friends.
