A funeral service for Mrs. Laura A. Chewning, 89, of 810 Marye Street who died Friday at the Hughes Nursing Home, will be held Sunday at Wilderness Baptist Church in Spotsylvania. The Reverend Gene Ryckman will officiated and interment will follow in the church cemetery. Her body will lie at the church prior to the service.
The pallbearers will be G. Carlton Onderdonk, Marvin P. Shelton, R. Bradley Chewning, Steven G. Michalec, Joseph G. Sowell and Bobby W. Carter.
A native of Orange County, Mrs. Chewning was the widow of L. Berry Chewning. She was a lifelong member of Wilderness Baptist church and at the time of her death was its oldest member.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Estella C. Shelton, Mrs. Bessie C. Onderdonk, and Mrs. Isabell Gallahan; a son, Robert L. Chewning; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Talley, Mrs. Alberta Plowman, and Mrs. Elsie Davenport.
