Allan was born in Hyattsville, Maryland in the historic house built by his grandfather, Harrison S Bowen. He married Cynthia L (Hovey) Bowen on March 9, 1922 in Broome County, New York and made their home in North Tonawanda, Niagara, New York. They had a son, Robert A Bowen who was killed in action during the Korean war. After retirement, Allan and Cynthia moved to Bradenton and Sarasoda Florida where they resided until both their deaths. Allan was interred in New York next to his beloved Robert, and Cynthia joined them 20 years later.
