He was born Oct. 20, 1920 in Clarion County, a son of Ralph E. and Ada (Croyle) Atherton.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Marabell Atherton with whom he made his home, a brother, Albert Atherton of Templeton RD#1, and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 13 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Frank S. Atherton who died Nov. 14, 1986 will be held at the Kennedy Funeral Home on Monday, Nov. 17, 1986 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. James Monticue, pastor of the Wilson Avenue Church of God officiating. Burial will follow in Cochran Cemetery.
