Bette McLane Singiser, age 93 and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Thornwald Home in Carlisle. Born November 12, 1922 in Dillsburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Earl and Estella (Yohn) McLane Norris.

Bette attended Mechanicsburg High School and was part of the Class of 1941. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg where she served as President of the Friendly Circle Class and was representative for Council of Churches. Bette was a member of Order of Eastern Star Trio Chapter 544 in Mechanicsburg where she was first Worthy Matron. She also served as Grand Representative to Iowa and Virginia and was Grand Martha for the Pennsylvania Chapter in 1975. Bette also served as the Women’s Club President and served as Hospitality Chairwoman for the Christian Women’s Club. She was a volunteer and board member for New Hope Ministries in Mechanicsburg and was Mother Advisor of the Rainbow Assembly.

Bette served on Mechanicsburg’s Fifth Ward election board for 54 years and was Judge of Elections for 15 of those years. She was recognized for voting in over 50 elections with perfect attendance and received an award from former Governor Tom Ridge.

Bette was preceded in death by her husband Gerald H. Singiser.
