Friday, November 30, 1938:
Mrs. Joseph Phillips, of Lincoln.
Susan, wife of Joseph Phillips, died Monday morning of this week at 6:00 o'clock, of complications, aged 47 years 20 months and 21 days. She is survived by hr husband and two children: Lester, and Estella, wife of Chester Townsley, both of Lincoln; also four grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Gerhart and Mrs Adam Eberly, both of Schoeneck; Henry Root of Mt Airy; Emanuel and John Root both of Ephrata, and Mrs Goshert, of Blainsport. Mrs. Phillips was a daughter of the late Mr; and Mrs. Jacob Root.
The funeral was scheduled for Thursday at 9:30 at the late home, with further services in the Grace E. C. church, Ephrata and with interment in Mellinger's cemetery, near Schoeneck. Rev Samuel Obetz was the minister, and H.M. Mellinger, of Denver, was the funeral director.
