Walter Hillman "Jack" Achord
Died 4 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 1990, at Lane Memorial Hospital, Zachary. He was 76, a native of Baton Rouge and resident of Deerford. He was a retired Exxon Co. USA diesel mechanic, with 30 years service. Visiting at Charlet Funeral Home, Zachary, 10 a.m. until religious services at 2 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev.John Coker. Burial in Galilee Baptist Church Cemetery, Deerford. Survived by wife, Inez Womack Achord; mother-in-law, Lottie B. Womack, Deerford; a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Virgie) Booty, Deerford; two sons, Walter H. Achord Jr., Zachary, and Cecil Lane Achord, Virginia Beach, Va.; two sisters, Leola Vallotton, Walker, and Grace Wales, Sulphur; two brothers, B.B. Achord, Baton Rouge, and Arthur Achord, Houma; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Zachary Lodge, F&AM, Deerford Methodist Church and charter member of Pride Farm Improvement Club.
