George M. 'Tut' Morton, 74, 2525 Sugar Hill Rd., Paris, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, at St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center.

Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home will conduct graveside services at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Fortenberry officiating. Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Morton was born Oct. 23, 1923, in Red River County to Cyruss and Annie Gibson Morton.

He attended school at Stanford. During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps.

He married Mary Louise Albright Sep. 3, 1953, in Oklahoma.

He was a retired farmer and rancher and had been a diesel mechanic for LaRue Ford Tractor. He had been a member of East Paris Baptist Church and currently was attending Novice Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife; five children and their spouses, Judy and Richard Ausmus of Blossom, Charlotte and Joe Tow of Texarkana, Tim and Judy Morton of Paris, Kenda and Vernon Bedford of Destin, FL, and Jeannie and Patt Swaim of Paris; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Wade Morton of Paris, Norman Morton of Arkansas and Ed Morton of Stanford; two sisters, Jewel Taylor of Lake Lavon and Syble Black of Wichita Falls.

He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Betty McFadden.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bryan Ausmus, Richard Ausmus, Vernon Bedford, Patt Swaim, Joe Tow, and Benton Moss.
