BIG FLATS Robert G. Holmes Sr., 66, a former resident of this area, died Sunday afternoon at Mercy Hospital, Janesville. He was a retired plumbing and heating contractor.

Funeral services will be held at the Overton Funeral Home at Janesville on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., with burial to follow in Oak Hill Cemetery there. Mr. Holmes was born at Big Flats on March 29. 1897. He was the son of the late Fredrick G. Holmes and Mrs. Cora [nee Tennant] Holmes Mullenix, now of Adams. He had been a resident of Janesville since 1947 and was married there Jan. 4, 1948 to Olena Gulbrandson, who preceded him in death in January, 1957. One brother and one half-brother, Edgar, also preceded him in death.

In addition to his mother he is survived by six children, Mrs. Ray McAllister, Wisconsin Rapids: Theodore, Arkdale; Mrs. Walter Pilak Jr., Fond du Lac; Robert Jr. and Mrs. William Dooley, Milwaukee, and Larry, Union Grove; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Alma Hudson and Mrs. Dwight Loofboro, Janesvillc, and Mrs. Robert Sutor. Friendship, and five brothers, Vern, Nekoosa; Alvin and Ernest, Hancock; Clifford, Rockford, III., and Frank, Winneconne. There are 24 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
