Mary Bouchee was born In Montreal, Quebec in Canada on April 23, 1877 to Napoleon Bouchee and Mary Lachappelle. She had four brothers, James, Fred, Napoleon, and Charles as well as four sisters, Rose (Mrs. Wm. Ebert), Lola (Mrs. Angelo Tecca), Ellen (Mrs. Bruffey), and Lena (Mrs. LaDuke). The family moved west in a covered wagon coming into the U.S, through the Black Hills of the Dakotas and into Colorado. The family did not stay in Colorado and decided to move to Montana where they homesteaded In the Mission Creek area.

Mary Bouchee entered into marriage with Marina Napoli on April 24, 1893. The wedding took place at Livingston's St. Mary's Church and was performed by Father Blaere. This union resulted in 10 children. Their names were; Rose, Genevieve, George William, James Ernest, Elizabeth Julia, Pearl Marie, Frances Marino, Lenora Clarice, Mary Ida, and Pauline Mae. Pauline Mae is the only surviving child.

Mary Napoli was unique in the Livingston community for her fluent command of both the Italian and French languages. She is fondly remembered by her grandchildren for her translations of popular nursery rhymes and songs into French and Italian. Mary also endeared herself to her grandchildren by baking bread in a brick oven located in her back yard and passing it out for them to enjoy.
Mary was a talented mid-wife, and assisted in the birth of many of her neighbor’s children.
