Funeral services for Mary H. Bohlken, 78, were held Saturday, Feb. 18, 1995 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Monticello with burial in the Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Dale Glawatz officiated at the services. Mary Bohlken of Monticello died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 1995 at the Hallmark Care Center, Mount Vernon, following an extended illness. Mary H. Bohlken was born April 18, 1916 at Monticello, the daughter of Adolph and Emma Bohlken Bohlken. She received her education in Wayne Township School #5. She later became a licensed practical nurse.
She was employed at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, for over 30 years. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Agnes Collman of Anamosa; Ellen Hanken of Monticello; two brothers, A.O. "Boots" Bohlken of Scotch Grove, and Henry Bohlken of Iowa City. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister, and her longtime companion and special friend, John Fitzsimmons.
Casket bearers were Jon Schrader, Keith Gillmore, Tom Cigrand, Carl Rieniets, Mark Hein and Gerald Schneiter.
Goettsch Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
