MONTICELLO - Funeral services for Emma Katherine Bohlken were held Saturday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m. from St. John's Lutheran church with the Rev. Carl C. Gutekunst, pastor, in charge of the services and burial at St. John's cemetery. Mrs. Bohlken died Thursday, Jan. 12 at John McDonald hospital after a lingering Illness. She was born Feb. 1, 1884 in Wayne Township, the daughter of Gerke Bohlken and Ann VonHagel.
She was married to Adolph Bohlken Nov. 17, 1904 at Monticello. They farmed near Monticello until Mr. Bohlken's death in 1940. She moved to Monticello In 1942. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran church.
Survivors include seven children, Henry, George, Carl, Mary, Ellen, Mrs. Frederick Hanken, all of Monticello; Adolph, Scotch Grove; Agnes, Mrs. Louis Collman, Cedar Rapids; 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. One sister, Mrs. Mary Jacobs also survives.
She was preceded In death by her husband on Dec. 22, 1940, also a daughter Laura and two brothers. Pallbearers Included Carl Egger, Sam Rhatigan, Chester Condit, Elmer Holmes, Orlando Null and Robert Patten.
