They returned to Indiana in 1964 and Gayson began working for Western Electric, later known as AT&T, in Indianapolis as a tool design engineer. In 1984, AT&T transferred the family to Shreveport, La. He retired from AT&T in 1995 and moved to Bowling Green to work for Siemens Corp. in Franklin. He retired from Siemens in 2000. Gayson gave his life to Christ as a young boy and served the Lord in the local church throughout his life. He taught Sunday school, led worship as a layman, served on various committees and was also ordained as a deacon. In 1969 in Spiceland, Ind., he was an organizer and charter member of a new church start called Smyrna Baptist Church. Gayson had a love for singing that started at an early age in the church and music flowed freely out of his life. Not only was he actively involved in his church, Gayson also volunteered through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and the Tax Counseling for the Elderly programs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald Terry and Rayford Terry, and by his sisters, Imogene Peters and Elouise Walls.
