Marie Collis Glenn, age 91, died Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville.

Born on February 1, 1926 in Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Allie Dale Collis. She was also preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, Claude Glenn who passed away in 1995. She was also preceded in death by her sister; Edith Pitman, her brothers; Everett and Ray Collis, her sister-in-law; Lillian Collis, her brothers-in-law; Monroe Pitman, Verial McKinney, Jay Pitman, and Joe Howell, a niece; Sandra Collis and a nephew; Joel McKinney.

She was a member of the Berry Chapel Baptist Church and medical community. After high school she worked at the Dixie Store in Spruce Pine, the Spruce Pine Mica Depot, and Spruce Pine hospital ending her forty plus years in the respiratory therapy department.

She had an appetite for fun, food and adventure. She could tell a good story and made good stories for others to tell. She will be most remembered for her love to others, listening skills, good advice and being available anytime. She was a legacy to those who were privileged to know her. She will be fondly and lovingly missed.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter; Claudia Gage and husband, Lanny of Sugar Hill, GA, her sons; Jerry Glenn and wife Phyllis Glenn (deceased) of Spruce Pine and Jeff Glenn and wife, Wanda of Marion; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren; her sisters; Nell Howell and Doris Pitman, a brother; Johnny Collis and wife Joann, a sister-in-law; Ruth Parsley; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly and was like their second mother.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service of Marie Glenn at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 1, 2017 in the Chapel of Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Williams officiating. A time to support the family, share memories and receive friends will be on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 11:00 am until the service hour in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to; Care Partners Hospice and Palliative Care, 21 Belvedere Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
