On July 16, 1932, Roger was born to George and Sadie (Scott) William in rural St. George, KS and was one of thirteen children. He attended schools in Pottawatomie Co. and graduated from St. George High School. He was united in marriage with Donna Tessendorf on March 4, 1956 in Wamego. She survives of the home.
After graduating high school, Roger enlisted in the United States Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He would go on to work for Moorman Feed Company and the Kansas State University Maintenance Department and was a carpenter for many years. Roger was a member of the First United Methodist Church of St. George and was the past Commander of the Black Jack American Legion Post 260 of St. George.
He is also survived by two sons, three sisters, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter: Teresa Bestvater; six brothers: Edgar, Gerald, Ray, Francis, Willard, and Warren; and three sisters: Pauline Dinger, Lena Harms, and Grace Prescott.
Memorial Service for Roger was at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Inurnment followed at the St. George Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials to Roger William Memorial Fund, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
