Catherine was born on January 26, 1918 in Cushing, MN to the late Jenensius and Mary (Warinner) Anderson. She grew up and attended school in Cushing, MN through the 8th grade and later graduated from Little Falls Community High School with the class of 1939. Catherine was not able to continue after 8th grade because her mother was a young widow and could not afford the bus fare for Catherine to go to Little Falls. When she was 17 her future husband helped pay the fare and Catherine worked during the school day for the school nurse to help with the fare too. Catherine was united in marriage to Arthur N. Eckblad on June 23, 1939 at home in Cushing, MN. The couple farmed east of Cushing until 1973. She worked daily as the office manager for Dr. Dubow from 1965 to 1985. Arthur passed away in 1973 and Catherine was later united in marriage to Elver Lewis in 1985, and the couple lived on Fish Trap Lake for several years before moving to Little Falls in 1989. Elver passed away in 1990, and Catherine has continued on in Little Falls since. She was a very active member of the Cushing Baptist Church where she held many offices including, member, church organist, Sunday school teacher, and vacation bible school teacher. Catherine was also a member of Farm Bureau, Cushing Women's Club, and the Cushing Community Club. She also enjoyed embroidery work, gardening, and had passion for music.
Catherine is survived by son, Lorence (Ardyce) Eckblad of Cushing, MN; sister, Arlene Nelson of Grand Rapids, MN; son-in-law, George Ligman; grandchildren, Erik Eckblad, Owen Eckblad, Janet McQueen, Randy Ligman, and Lisa Mat, 9 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; step-son, Darrell Lewis; step-daughter Janet (Marty) Page; 7 step-granchildren and numerous step-great grandchildren.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arthur Eckblad and Elver Lewis; daughter, Karen Ligman; grandson, Craig Eckblad; brothers, ARthur, Albert & Duane Anderson; and sisters, Lila Anderson, Doris Harrison, Ruth Garrison; step-son Herb Lewis.
