Robert “Bob” Henry Abright, Sr., 87, of Hannibal, Mo., passed away at 6:02 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at his home.

Graveside services and burial, with full military honors provided by the Missouri Military Funeral Honors Team, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Barkley Cemetery in New London. Rev. Tim Goodman will officiate.

Visitation will be held 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the Smith Funeral Home and Chapel in Hannibal.

Robert was born on Dec. 19, 1928, in Hannibal, Mo., the son of William Worden and Kathryn Clayton (Gentry) Abright.

Survivors include four sons, William Abright, Ronnie Abright, Robert Abright and John Abright; three daughters, Roberta Elliott, Mary Abright and Dora Abright LaFond; eleven grandchildren, Brian Elliott, Jeffrey Elliott, Kevin Elliott, Yasmine Bowen, Amanda Abright, Latisha Burchette, Timothy Abright, Bethany LaFond, Joseph LaFond, Chanelle LaFond and Joshua Kitchen; several great-grandchildren; one special nephew, James Abright; and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Abright was preceded in death by his stepmother, Fern Abright; one son, Riman Wesley Abright; one great-grandson, Brayden Tyler Abright; one son-in-law, Marvin Elliott; three brothers, William Charles Abright, George Abright and Jim Abright; and two sisters, Alice Damon and Mary Catherine Mueller.

Mr. Abright proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War. Bob was a lifelong farmer, raising row crops and dairy cows. He enjoyed farming, he loved running the tractor. If Bob wasn’t found working on the farm he could be found in his garden, walking or maybe sitting on the front porch enjoying a good book with the company of his cats.

Mr. Abright was a Baptist by faith.

Pallbearers will be James Abright, John Abright, Kevin Elliott, Junior Muehring, Joseph LaFond and Daniel Bowen.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hannibal Nutrition Center, in care of Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
