MRS. CHARLES GIBSON

Bessie Mae Gibson, daughter of George and Hettie Pottorff, was born May 1, 1889, near Winterset, Iowa, passed away Oct. 3, 1958, in the Ringgold County Hospital at the age of 69 years, 5 months and 2 days.On May 4, 1906, she was united in marriage with Charles Thomas Gibson in Hatfield, MO and to this union were born 13 children.
Aunt Bess, as she was known to her acquaintances, enjoyed company, crocheting and piecing and quilting her many quilts. There will be an empty space in many hearts with the death of Aunt Bess.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Jessie Tindle, and three sons, Charles E., Raymond, and Lawrence Gibson.
Left to mourn her death are her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs.George Pottorff, of Hatfield, MO; her children, George T. Gibson, of Turner, OR; Nancy Cook, of Denison, Arlene Marshall, of Shenandoah,Lloyd L. Gibson, of Neosho, MO, Ester Pauline Allen, of Ft. Scott, KS, Ernest E. Gibson, of Falls City, NE, Helen Darlene Fritts, of Horton, MO, Maxine Lavon Durossette, of Richards, MO, and James E. Gibson, a member of the armed forces; five brothers, Elijah Pottorff, of Green River, WY, Dee Pottorff of Hatfield, MO, Dennie Pottorff of Des Moines, Glenn Pottorff, of Mt. Ayr, and Walter Pottorff, of Lincoln,NE; six sisters, Mina Buckmaster, Casper, WY, Betty Renner, Belleville, MI, Nancy Cook, Cornelius, OR, Elsie Tull, of Essex, and Eva Adams and Grace Ruckman of Hatfield, MO; forty-two grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were held October 7, from the Rhoades Funeral Home conducted by the Rev. Ward Campbell, pastor of the Free Methodist Church. Music was provided by Mrs. Billie Kelley and Mrs. Robert Fisher with Margaret Pence as organist. Casket bearers were grandsons,Albert G. Cook, Robert Marshall, Charles A. Allen, Merle Gibson, Robert E. Gibson, and Stuart Mott. Granddaughters served as flower girls, Delerous Carlson, Mary Lou Rimer, Bonnie Marsh, Dorothy Faye Gibson, Jane Ann Gibson, and Bessie Mae Nissen. Interment was in the Ringgold Cemetery.
