DEE POTTORFF
Dee Pottorff, 85 year old beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, was born September 24, 1905, to George N and Hettie Austin Pottorff. Dee was born two miles north of Hatfield, Mo., and resided there most of his life.
On February 9, 1926, he was united in marriage to Ruby Weddle at Grant City, Mo. They were blessed with 65 years of married life. to this union were born five children; three sons, Max, Carol Dee, and Mick, and two daughters, Odetta and Zelpha.
Dee enjoyed nature and all wildlife. His keen sense of hearing let him enjoy many things. For example, he knew every bird and its song. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. But his favorte sport was coon hunting with his dogs and mule. When he was young he hunted to help support his family, but he enjoyed this sport his entire life. In later years he loved to play dominoes with his friends at Allendale, Mo.
Dee was a good listener and his loyal and living dedication to his wife and family was just one of his many good qualities. He showed his personal love for his Creator in his own quiet, honest, and caring ways.
Dee's early married life was spent farming around the Hatfield area. In 1944 he and his beloved wife, Ruby, moved to the original homeplace at Hatfield where she still resides. He leaves his wife Ruby of the home, Max and wife, Mariann, Mick and wife, Phyllis, all of Hatfield, Mo; Carol Dee of Eagleville, Mo; Odetta and husband Otis Steeples, Zelpha and husband Franklin Ray, all of Fort Madison, Iowa. He leaves one brother, Glenn Pottorff, and one sister, Eva "Evie" Adams, both of Mount Ayr, Ia. He delighted in seeing and hearing of all the activities of his 20 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.
He left his loved ones on August 26, 1991. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 28, 1991, at the Prugh-Dunfee Chapel in Grant City. The Rev. Larry Owens officiated. Interment was in Lincoln Center Cemetery near Hatfield.
