George, the son of Danish Immigrants Hans and Sidsel Marie (Pedersen) Hansen, was bornin the "Copenhagen Community" of Jackson Township, Shelby County, IA. He lived his whole life on that farm. His parents and 5 of their children came to the USA in 1876. Those siblings of George were: Ellen Marie, married Hans H. Hoogensen; Anna, married Hans Petersen; Hans P. Hansen; Knud Hansen; and Engebrog, married Chris Jensen. George had another sister also born in the "Copenhagen Community", Jennie, married Fred H. Christensen.

1901, March 22--George and Anna Marie Christensen, daughter of Hans C. and Christena Marie (Christensen) Christensen, were married.

George and Anna Marie were members of the Bethlehem Lutheran church at Jacksonville, where George served as trustee, president and secretary from 1929 until he died.

George's father Hans made his home with George and Annie until he died in 1907. George's mother Sidsel died in 1887. Both are buried in the Jacksonville Cemetery.

George and Anna had 5 children: Hans C., married Inez Petersen; Marie Christine, married John C, Hansen; Raymond, married Marie Sorensen; Alta Viola, married Wilfred Hess; and an infant daughter died at birth in 1917.

Anna died on 10 April 1927. When their son Hans married Inez in 1932, the young couple moved in with George. George died 29 Dec 1939. Both George and Anna are buried in the Jacksonville Cemetery.
