Wenzel Hornick, sr., 79, a retired Hewitt farmer, died shortly before 5 o'clock this morning at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Borens, 307 West Cleveland street, where he had made his home the past year. He had been suffering from an intestinal disorder the past three weeks.
It was planned to hold the funeral from St. John's Catholic church Friday morning.
Six grandchildren have been selected for pallbearers. They are Reuben, Ray, and Ralph Borens, and Wilfred Oettinger, Marshfield; John Reinert, Hewitt, and Leo Ebsen, Wisconsin Rapids.
Born and married in Austria, he came to this country about 48 years age and worked as a carpenter in a ship yard in Manitowoc. Two years later he was joined by his wife and two daughters, soon after which the family settled on a farm at Hewitt, where he farmed until 13 years ago, when he and his wife moved to this city to live in retirement.
The marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Hornick was solemnized 56 years ago. The date of his birth is March 4, 1850.
Since locating here he was employed for some time at the Roddis factory. He also busied himself at other work, including carpentry.
