William Addis Mathews was my uncle. He was born on April 22,1903 to William David and Della Hart Mathews. Everyone called him "Addis". His brothers were: Eddie and Jack Mathews. His sisters were: Codie Mathews Hartzog and Virgie Mathews Hartzog.
Uncle Addis left behind his wife,Rossie Lee,who passed away in 1995.They married on October 26,1924. Their children were: Norman and Jim Mathews,Ruby Mathews,and Vera Mae Mathews Jennings. Survivors of this union also produced many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
I only saw Uncle Addis a few times. He teased with me a lot the last time we saw him.I will never forget it. He was a jolly man,who was loved by everyone who knew him.
Uncle Addis passed away in December 1967 from a heart attack at his home.
