Elmond "Red" Bert Neese, age 72, of Elwood, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Community Hospital following a battle with cancer.
He was born on September 25, 1944, in Elwood to the late Byron and Helen (Hamilton) Neese. Red served our Country in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965. He was a Paratrooper, Green Beret, and a Sharpshooter. Red retired from Delco Remy in Anderson in 2000 after many years of service and was a member of the Elwood V.F.W. Post 5782. He married Gail (Robert) Neese on March 18, 2000 and she survives. He was an avid horseshoe pitcher and Colts fan loved to fish and go mushroom hunting and spend time with his "adopted son", Thomas Plake. Red will be sadly missed by his loving family and many friends.
Red is survived by his loving Wife, of 16 years, Gail (Robert) Neese, Daughter, Wendy (Jim) Neese, Son, Elliott (Bobie Jo) Neese, Step-Children, Toni Gillespie, Brett Shepard, Don (Keely) Shepard, Sisters, Mildred Kendall, Barbara Boll, eleven Grandchildren, Alyssa Edwards, Aaron Neese, Kenny Talbert, Logan Neese, Rachel Gillespie, Wyatt Gillespie, Ronald Shepard, Ethan Harrah, Emma Shepard, Max Shepard, Alex Shepard, two Great-Grandchildren, Jerrett Neese, Rilee Shepard, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Fred Fowler, Charles Fowler, Ivan Fowler, Sarah Wood, Georgia Ellis, Treva Padget and Byron "Bud" Neese,

Funeral service will be at 4:00 pm Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, Indiana with Pastor Dan Mundy officiating. The United States Army and the Elwood V.F.W. Honor Guard will perform military honors at the start of the services.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 7, 2016, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana.
