Mrs. Obed Lewis, an old and highly respected resident of this city, died yesterday morning at her home. Her maiden name was Cordelia Margaret Iles, and she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Washington Iles. She was born in Springfield May 25, 1827, and was, therefore, one of the oldest settlers in the county. She was born in a house on the site of the present Second Presbyterian church. On September 23, 1851, at her father's homestead two miles south of the city she was united in marriage to Obed Lewis, and ever since that time has made her home in Springfield, where she was universally loved and respected for her many admirable qualities.

Mrs. Lewis is survived by her husband and three children: W. T. Lewis, teller in the Farmers' National bank; Mrs. R. F. Herndon, and Miss Mary Lewis, all residing in Springfield. She also leaves the following sisters and brothers to mourn her loss: Mrs. E. M. Loose of Woodside township, and Mrs. Ann Bourne, Mrs. Judge N. M. Broadwell, of this city; Mr. Elijah Iles, Mr. Washington Iles and Mr. Edward Iles, all residing near this city in Woodside township.
