The couple never had any children. John Heald passed away in 1882 and was buried in Lower Smyrna Cemetery.
Shortly after John's death, Jane married her second husband, Samuel Drew Philpot, a widowed farmer from Dyer Brook. He was the father of 4 children by his first wife, his youngest son being about 8 years old when his mother died. Like Jane's first husband, Samuel was quite a number of years older than she. They did not have any children of their own. Samuel died in 1895, leaving Jane as a widow for a second time.
She did not remarry, rather living and working as a housekeeper for private families. She remained in the Smyrna Mills, Dyer Brook area, eventually passing away on 9 Aug 1910. She was buried near her parents in the Lilley Family lot in Dyer Brook Cemetery.
