William J. “Bill” Shook, 68, of Fort Ashby, died Wednesday, June 29, 1994 at his residence. Born on April 8, 1926 in Hampshire, W.Va., he was the son of the late William F. and Minnie L. (Ashby) Shook. He was also preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Mr. Shook was a World War II Army veteran having served in the South Pacific Islands. He was retired from the West Virginia Board of Education and was a member of the Old Furnace Church of the Brethren and he belonged to the National Rifle Association. Surviving are his wife, Dolly Kathryn (Puffinburger) Shook; one sister, Ruby Crum, Smithsburg, and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Fort Ashby Funeral Home on Friday. Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Heisey officiating. Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery.
