New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for John W. Ewing, 68, who passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, in Lafayette.

Interment will follow at the Migues Cemetery in Delcambre, with military honors by the Iberia Honor Guard. Dr. Donald Pharr will officiate.

A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 3:30 PM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM.

A native and lifelong area resident, Mr. Ewing was born on January 11, 1949 to the late George Ewing, Jr. and Bernice Miguez Ewing. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and his hobbies included fishing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle.

Survivors include his sister, Carol Lyons of Jeanerette; brothers, George Ewing of Eatonville, Washington, and Barry Ewing of Cypremort Point; several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Champagne, Blake Braud, and Triston Derouen. Honorary pallbearers include George W. Ewing, and Glenn Stroud.
