DAVIS Josephine Samman Davis passed away on March 14, 2012 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was known to family, friends and coworkers as "Josie" or "Jo." She and her twin brother Joseph were born in Taft, Texas on March 15, 1929. They were the youngest of nine children, born to Carrie Ogdee Samman and Anton Samman, a pioneer family of Taft, Texas. Josie was very proud of her Lebanese heritage and was known for her Lebanese cooking, which she taught to her children and grandchildren. As a child, she loved playing the piano and could "sing like a bird." Besides raising children and cooking, she worked most of her life. She retired from Corpus Christi Army Depot in 1997, where she worked for 42 years in Supply as an Item Manager and later was promoted to the position of Production Controller. After retirement, she continued working in various positions, including as a caretaker at Trinity Towers. As her own health began to fail, she found great joy in living at Homewood Residence. She awoke every day to a home of wonderful friends and endless hours of canasta, bingo, dominoes, bunko, and any other game that she could get her hands on. Her life suddenly ended with joy and peace in her heart. Rest in peace, mom. We will always love you. She is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband Michael A. Davis, Sr.; her brothers Alfred, Phillip and William Samman; and her sisters Evelyn Aboud, Adell Botary, and Marie Samman. She is survived by her sister Victoria Brown and her twin brother Joseph Samman. She leaves behind: three children, Cathleen Haddad King (Thomas), William Haddad, and Michael A. Davis, Jr. (Rose); seven grandchildren, Christine Gunther (Gregg), Jami Haddad, Thomas King, William King (Jennifer), Kristin Haddad, Ava Davis, and Grace Davis; and five great-grandchildren, who will be told many wonderful stories about their great-grandmother. She was a special aunt to nine nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. To view tribute please visit www.seaside funeral.com
