Cecil Gum, 63, of Wana, WV died Friday, April 14, 2017 in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

He was born April 10, 1954 at Fairmont, a son of the late Cecil C. Gum and Kara Jo Hamilton Gum.

Cecil was working for EERP at the federal #2 mine on Miracle Run. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America District #31 in Fairmont.

Surviving are his wife, Debra Kay Myers Gum; two sons, Curtis Gum of Blacksville and James Catalogna of Morgantown; one daughter, Jessica Gum of Wana; two brothers, Donley Gum of Daybrook and Jack Gum of Orville, OH; one sister, Regina Eddy of Cassville; three grandchildren, Neveah Grace Zarilla, Caleb Catalogna, and Devon Rebold; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Kell Gum and Carney Gum.

Friends may call at the Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville from 6-8 PM Wednesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 8:00 PM with Rev Freddie Eddy, II officiating. Following the services his request for cremation was honored.
