Kara Jo Gum, 69, of Daybrook, died Friday, March 2, 2001, at Monongalia General Hospital. She was born May 28, 1931, in Daybrook, daughter of the late Arley Earl and Dossie Dell Ammons Hamilton. She was a member of Daybrook Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Cecil Buster Gum; five sons and spouses, Cecil Earl and Debbie Gum, of Wana, Jackie P. and Myra Gum, of Oriville, Ohio, Don J. and Molly Gum, of Daybrook, Bobby G. Gum, of Daybrook, and Billy K. Gum, of Morgantown; a daughter, Regina S. Eddy, of Blacksville; a brother and spouse, Don and June Hamilton, of Daybrook; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Carney David Gum; an infant daughter; a great-grandchild; a brother, Denzil (Dink) Hamilton; and three sisters, Lorna Tennant, Leona Wilson, and Regina Fordyce. Friends may call from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, at Owen-Neely Funeral Home. Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, at Daybrook Church of Christ with Evangelist Will Aleshire officiating. Burial will follow in Daybrook Cemetery. Donations: American Lung Association, P.O. Box 1391, Charleston, WV 25325.
