Born Mary Zgazar in Zabreh, Moravia, Czech Republic. The daughter of Jan (John) Zgazar and Marie Korinek. Mary had six brothers and sisters, but she was the only one to live past childhood. After the death of her father, her mother remarried a man named Jan Glembek and from this marriage there were three sisters to survive to adulthood. When Mr. Glembek died, Mary's mother saved money to buy passage for herself, Mary, the three younger sisters and Mary's boyfriend Bohumil Oravecz to America. They sailed in 1911 and landed three weeks later in Galveston, Texas and lived in Yoakum, Texas. Mary married Bohumil in 1911, in Texas. There were two children born of this union - a son Roland and a daughter Betty. This marriage ended in divorce after about five years. In 1919 Mary married William Henry Canary. There were three sons born of this marriage. Frank, Fred and Jimmy. Mr. Canary preceded her in death, in 1967. Mary Canary died at home in 1973. She did not apply for citizenship, she became a citizen when she married W.H. Canary. She is buried in Resthaven Memory Garden Cemetery in Oklahoma City, OK
