COOLEY Betty Elizabeth Oravetz Canary was born on October 26, 1915, in Willow, OK, to Bohemiel and Mary Oravetz and went to meet her LORD and Savior Jesus Christ on July 7, 2000. She attended Bridge Creek School and lived in the Tuttle area and at Lexington before moving to Bethany in 1959. One of the greatest experiences of her life was a trip to the Holy Land, visiting the sites where her Lord was born, crucified and the empty tomb from which He arose. Mrs. Cooley's strong faith in the Lord helped her face every adversity and trial with grace and perseverence. She lived Galatians 6:9 "And let us not be weary in well doing for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." She was faithful to her Lord and lived Proverbs 31 The Virtuous Woman. "Her children arise up and call her blessed." "Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all." She stated that her greatest accomplishment in life was that all of her nine children came to know the Lord as Savior. She taught her children, by example, a love for the Lord, family and country. Four of her five sons served in the military, three of which fought in the Vietnam War. She is survived by four sons, Henry, Blanchard, Paul, Moore; Hoss, Piedmont, Skip, Bethany; four daughters, Mary Simpson, Moore, Betty Jean Cummins, Mustang, Ellie Ernestine Oliver, Binger, Lela French, Moore; one brother, Jimmy Canary, Tuttle; 23 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, P M Cooley Jr.; her son, Ples Morgan Cooley III, who went home to be with the Lord June 15, 2000; and one granddaughter, Brandy Cooley; father; mother; step-father, W.H. Canary; three brothers, Roland Oravetz, Frank and Fred Ca nary. The Cooley family wishes to express sincere thanks to Dr. M.A. Shakir and staff for their care and compassion; Pastor Jim Vineyard, Bro. Bob "S.S." Ross, Bro. Jeff "T.B." Blanchard and members of the Windsor Hills Baptist Church for their prayers, love and care; neighbors, Sammy and Ginger Vernon for their friendship and loving concern for Mom during her long courageous battle with congestive heart failure. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., July 11, 2000 at Windsor Hills Baptist Church. After interment at Resthaven Cemetery, a celebration of life reception will be hosted by her children in the fellowship hall at Windsor Hills Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Betty Cooley Scholarship Fund, 1st Bethany Bank, P.O. Box 218, Bethany, OK 73008. The scholarship will be awarded to a student at Oklahoma Baptist College. Eisenhour Funeral Home, Blanchard.
