Former Mariposa Dies In Los Angeles
Services were held at the Ivers and Alcorn Funeral Home in Merced on Wednesday at 10 o'clock a.m. for John A. Wolfsen, who died at the California Lutheran Hospital in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 10.
Mr. Wolfsen was removed from his home in Mariposa County to Los Angeles two weeks ago for medical attention he having been in declining health for several months.
Deceased had spent the greater part of his life in Merced County, where the family was one of the best known and most highly respected in that county. He was a successful farmer there before removing to Mariposa County a few years ago where he first engaged in the poultry business in the Usona district. Later he conducted the Acorn Inn and two years ago purchased Whispering pines which place he had developed into a prominent resort.
Mr. Wolfsen was a native of Amador County. He was a member of Yosemite Lodge No. 99, F&A. M., and Merced's Chapter No. 126, Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving relatives are his widow, Mrs. Flora B. Wolfsen; two sons Clair Wolfsen of Merced and Floyd Wolfsen of Los Angeles, and one daughter, Mrs. Thelma Florey of Mariposa County; four brothers, Dr. Ludwig Wolfsen of Modesto, Peter Wolfsen of Cathey, Harvey Wolfsen of Colfax and Charles Wolfsen of Washington, and a sister, Mrs. Sadie Stevens of Le Grand, Mariposa County.
