H. Ansel Batson, 69 of 199 South Washington Avenue, husband of Dollie Owens Batson, died Saturday in Ashville, North Carolina. A life long resident of Greenville, he was the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Rainey Batson. He was a salesman with Greenco Beverage Company before his retirement and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a Baptist. Surviving also are his daughter, Mrs. Tabitha B. Richardson of Greenville, two sons William Batson ("Bill") Campbell of Greenville, and Lamar Batson of Council Bluffs, Iowa, a step-son Lomis C. Bagwell, Jr., of Greenville, three sisters, Mrs. Ella Mae Owens of Greenville, Mrs. Nellie Hamilton of Smyrna, Georgia and Mrs. Estelle James of Liberty; two brothers Clayton Batson and Dean Batson, both of Greenville, twelve grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel of the Thomas McAfee Funeral Home by Dr. W. Gary Cooper. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family is at the residence.
