ELLEN JAMES - 5 June 1989
Liberty. Ellen Batson James, 87, of Route 2, widow of the late Raymond E. James, died at 6:40 p.m. Monday at Oconee Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. James was born in Greenville County, a daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Rainey Batson. She was a homemaker and the oldest member of Golden Creek Baptist Church where she was a member of the Mothers Bible Class #1 and a former teacher in the Junior Department.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Edna Wilson of Greenville, Mrs. Helen Maw of Six Mile, Mrs. Ruth McGuire of Easley, and Mrs. Dorothy Berlin of Atlanta, GA; three sons, Clyde James of the home, Calvin James of Central and Marion James of Liberty; twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Mae Owens of Greenville and Mrs. Nellie Hamilton of Atlanta, GA.
Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at Golden Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Randy McAlister, Rev. Doyle Finley, Rev. Paul Hayes and Rev. Garland Sentell. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be: Andy Skelton, Roger Maw, Eddie Wilson, Clyde James, Jr., Mike McGuire, and Mark McGuire.
Honorary escort will be the Mothers Bible Class #1 of Golden Creek Baptist Church.
The body is at Robinson Funeral Home in Easley and will be placed in the church at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
