Conrad, called "Coonrod" was born 1753
in Frederick County, Virginia Colony,
son of Johann Conrad Elscheid and Maria
Catherina Goessel who immigrated 1750
from Neiderhonnefeld, Neuwied, Rhineland.

Coonrod served in Revolutionary War in
Michael Reader's Co. Virginia Militia.

About 1780 he married in Shenandoah
VA Elisabeth (maiden name unknown. She
may have been daughter of Abraham Bruner,
a neighbor)

Coonrod's brothers, Michael and Peter,
migrated to Northwest Territory, Ohio
about 1802. Coonrod joined them, settling
first on Leading Creek. His son, Abraham,
born 1794, Shenandoah VA came with him.
Conrad is recorded in 1820 U.S. Federal
Census in Rutland Twp, Meigs County, OH.

Coonrod died on his farm near Rutland,
Meigs County, Ohio in 1842.

No gravestone has been found; however, its
likely he was buried in the same cemetery
(Graham) as his son Abraham.
