Minnie was the daughter of Orpha B. (Myers) and Benjamin D. Ellett. She married Martin G. Rice in 1885. To this union was born one child; Bessie E. Rice.
The 1900 Census lists Minnie's mother Orpha as Widowed, Head of the House, Mother of 9 children/8 Living. Also living in the home are her grown children; William, Harry, Bettie, Fred, Minnie & Minnie's 13 yr old daughter Bessie. Minnie's husband worked on the Rail Road and must have either been out of town or off preparing a home in Kentucky. 1910 Census records and on show Minnie and her family living in Kentucky.
Minnie's death certificate says she was ill from December 27, 1941 to her death on January 3, 1942. It also lists her as being widowed and states she died from a cerebral thrombosis at the age of 88 years, 2 months and 2 days old. She died at 3005 Beals Branch Drive, Louisville, Kentucky and was cremated at the Lou. Crematory on Jan 6, 1942.
